Proclamation Issued
To Congratulate ABC on producing a memorable Twentieth Anniversary Season, and to publicity acknowledge the recognition the Allegheny Ballet Company has brought to the Arts scene of Central Pennsylvania, the City of Altoona proclaimed June 28, 2002 "Allegheny Ballet Company Day!" Mayor Tom Martin, a longtime supporter of the arts, declared "Allegheny Ballet Company" has proven time and time again, that it is one of the gems of our region. We are tremendously proud of the ongoing successes of Allegheny Ballet. Congratulation and best wishes to all!" The proclamation was presented at the June 26, 2002 meeting of Altoona City Council.
International Ballet Competition
On June 28, 2002 the company's performance at the prestigious International Ballet Competition in Jackson Mississippi was the ultimate conclusion to a spectacular Twentieth Anniversary Season. The Allegheny Ballet Company's invitation to performance as a demonstration of excellence in Choreography and training, made even more special by the fact that the piece they performed, Concierto Piazzolla, was choreographed by ABC alumnus, Paul Gibson, currently a principal dancer for Pacific Northwest Ballet. Artistic Director Deborah Anthony agrees. "Paul has reached the top of his craft as a dancer, and now is making his mark as a choreographer. How fortunate that he chose to choreograph on his former pre-professional company!"
Spirit of the Community - Pride of Country
In the spirit of the greater community of fellow Pennsylvania and fellow Americans, the Allegheny Ballet Company was humble to be able to share a substantial donation with the Todd M. Beamer Foundation, named in honor of one of the heroes of the downed September 11th flight 93. We were honored to be able to share with the families of that tragic flight," explained ABC Patron Chair, Jeanie Geist. " We are after all, residents of the community of the world. Sharing is caring, and Allegheny Ballet Company recognize the importance of setting proper life's priorities - and were able to do that in a meaningful way, thanks to the ongoing generosity of our patrons."
